Welcome To Dark River Press!

A great concept and with much enthusiasm the DarkRiverPress website was launched in 2011. Unfortunately the site's domain registration was not renewed and the site disappeared from the internet. The new owner has rebuilt this page from its 2011-2012 archived pages. Consider the resurrected site as an homage to the original., although it really doesn't do justice to the original.

Dark River Press (and its magazine Dark River) is a brand new project aimed at readers, writers and artists of the horror genre.

It is our aim to produce and distribute this magazine for FREE as long as humanly possible. Eventually, we hope to able to publish and distribute a FREE print version of the magazine. Time will tell. In the meantime we are concentrating on digital formats.

We do not specialize in splatter and gore for the sake of it. Intelligent thought-provoking horror is favoured over shock.

Our premier issue will be released in February 2012.

We are currently accepting submissions and would love to hear any additional ideas for the magazine you may have. Drop us a line

In case you missed the rather large, shouty message and cover art above, Dark River Volume 1, Issue 1 is now LIVE and available for immediate FREE download. Visit our shop page for download instructions.

We've recently updated our Fun page. Everyone needs to rest their brains every once in a while, so we've added in a whole bunch of great horror games for you to enjoy! Feel free to indulge yourself. We all have! The editor is particularly fond of Ghostscape at the moment.

The winner of our John Ajvide Lindqvist competition has been announced!

Congratulations to Luke Addison of Warrington, UK! Those four books will be on their way to you soon!

January's Stories are now up. And you can still read December's and November's. That's 18 tales of terror for you to read, absolutely free. The whole site's optimised for mobile, so you can read them on the go.

We have a new blogger, Tonjia Atomic, who will be discussing the theme of women in horror. Check out her blog here.

Don't forget to sign up for Dark River Press Forums where we discuss all things horror. Join the debate! (Requires registration).

If there's anything you would like to see, contact us and let us know. We want to provide you with the magazine and website that you want!

Thanks for visiting Dark River Press.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank every member of the team for helping to make all this possible. You guys are awesome!!

I would also like to thank the writers, poets, artists, musicians who fill this site up with such beautiful darkness! Without you, Dark River Press wouldn't exist!

Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who visits Dark River Press and to all those of you who voted!!

With utmost gratitude,
